G5: Technical Support Technician


Are you an experienced IT professional  looking for an opportunity to make a real impact? Do you thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing IT infrastructure, ensuring security, and providing top-tier technical support?


Your Role:

As an Technical Support Technician you’ll play a vital role in supporting and maintaining our IT infrastructure. From managing networks and security systems to troubleshooting and supporting end-users, your expertise will be key in ensuring seamless IT operations.


What You’ll Do:
✔ Provide
technical support to both local and remote users.
✔ Manage
user accounts across IT systems, including student accounts.
✔ Troubleshoot and maintain
Windows hardware, software, and Office 365.
✔ Support
Audio-Visual & online classroom equipment.
✔ Monitor, manage, and resolve IT issues via a
ticketing system.
✔ Deploy and maintain
Windows & Mac operating systems.
✔ Administer
Active Directory, Office 365, and Microsoft Exchange.
✔ Manage
hardware inventory and ensure IT compliance with regulations.


The Ideal Candidate:


✔ Qualifications: An industry-accredited IT qualification (essential).
✔
Experience: Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Systems Administrator, Network Administrator, or similar role.


✔ Knowledge & Skills:

  • Strong understanding of IT systems, networking (LAN/WAN), and cybersecurity.
  • Proven experience managing Microsoft O365, Windows BI, MS SharePoint, and Hyper-V.
  • Expertise in firewall security, backup systems, and patch management.
  • Experience with Windows Server environments, including MS Exchange.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a customer-focused mindset.

About Us

The mission of the Institute of Public Administration (IPA) is to advance the understanding, standard and practice of public administration and public policy and to build the capacity and capability of the public service workforce into the future. Our intent is to be Ireland’s recognised Centre of Excellence for learning and leadership development for the Public Service.

 

At its core, the Institute acts as a promoter and facilitator of good government. The IPA aims to educate and inform, promote good practice, generate dialogue and debate, and create connections across the Public Service to improve the Irish public administration system for the benefit of the public. Professional Development

The Professional Development Department within the IPA is preparing to embark on an exciting strategic plan, focused on empowering the public service workforce with essential and emerging capabilities through our programmes and services. The Department reaches a large number of public servants across a broad spectrum of organisations. 

 

The Department offers a variety of open-enrolment and custom training programmes, advisory services, seminars, conferences, and forums tailored to meet the needs of public service organisations and individuals.

We work closely with civil service, local government, health, education, and state bodies, both commercial and non-commercial, to strengthen organisational capabilities, enhance individual skills, and provide expert advice and support.

The past few years have seen significant transformation in how knowledge is delivered and consumed, driven by advancements in technology, shifting workforce dynamics, and an increasing emphasis on flexibility and adaptability in professional roles.
