Role Purpose

 The Business Process Improvement & Information Technology Department (BPI & IT) manages Enterprise Ireland’s portfolio of information systems, databases, websites and online client services as well as a global network infrastructure. The team works across the organisation on specific projects relating to procurement or development of processes and technology to support Enterprise Ireland’s operational and strategic needs.

Enterprise Ireland has an IT software portfolio consisting of in-house built software applications and SaaS platforms configured to its requirements that support the organisations critical business processes. A well planned and executed change management process is essential to ensure that these software applications continue to function effectively and downtime caused by post release fixes are kept to an absolute minimum. Core to this is ensuring that the software releases meets the highest standards of quality and reliability.

The Senior IT Specialist – Software Quality Assurance (QA) will be a key member of the BPI & IT Department. The successful candidate will work with the various functional areas within the BPI & IT Department and cross-functional business teams across Enterprise Ireland to ensure the quality and reliability of our software applications by leading on robust and comprehensive software testing processes. They will be responsible for the design and implementation of a comprehensive software quality assurance strategy and apply a continuous improvement process to ensure that QA processes remain effective and relevant.

We are seeking candidates who are advocates of quality, exhibit strong leadership and influencing capabilities, and possess an in-depth understanding of effective software testing methodologies. This role necessitates excellent collaboration skills, as it entails tackling a diverse array of technical and organizational tasks within an ever-evolving environment. Candidates must be equally adept at thriving within a team dynamic or independently, showcasing reliability, enthusiasm, and an unwavering commitment to ensuring software quality. The primary focus of this role is to enhance the end-user experience, ensuring their ability to utilize the software as effectively as possible remains at the forefront of quality assurance initiatives.

Key Deliverables

  • Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive QA strategy that aligns with Enterprise Ireland’s business goals and ensures high-quality software releases.
  • Oversee and execute thorough test plans to identify and resolve defects, ensuring that software meets requirements and industry standards.
  • Implement test automation strategies to enhance testing efficiency and ROI across the software development lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with software development and SaaS platform teams to integrate quality assurance processes into the software development lifecycle and change management processes.
  • Collaboratively determine the most appropriate testing processes for each project, involving project teams from the outset to optimize resource allocation and project timelines.
  • Identify and deliver a set of tools, processes, procedures, and templates to support quality assurance efforts and simplify the implementation and management of the QA strategy.
  • Identify opportunities to implement test automation across the software development lifecycle, particularly in areas where manual testing would be inefficient or delay project timelines.
  • Track and report on testing progress, defect metrics, and overall software quality to keep stakeholders informed.
  • Create and nurture a culture of continuous improvement towards software quality throughout the organization.
  • Keep up to date with industry best practices and emerging trends in software quality assurance.

Functional Competencies (Key Skills & Knowledge)

  • Bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science or related field is essential.
  • Strong knowledge and experience of software quality assurance activities, standards, techniques, frameworks and tools is essential.
  • 5+ years’ experience in a QA Test Engineer / Test Analyst position in a software development and/or SaaS platform area is essential.
  • Experience designing, implementing a new QA strategy/function or significantly enhancing an existing QA strategy/function is essential.
  • Experience of working in an Agile manner using methodologies such as Scrum is essential.
  • Previous experience in a team or project leadership role would be an advantage.
  • Experience with the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and the required test cycles, including overall testing approach and reviews would be an advantage.
  • Knowledge and experience of test automation frameworks would be an advantage.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft tech stack, including ASP.NET, .NET Core, Entity Framework, and C#, would be advantageous.
  • Familiarity with one of more market leading SaaS CRM platforms would be advantageous.
  • Working knowledge of web services API technologies and appropriate testing methodologies is desirable.
  • End user focused, self-motivated individual who is equally comfortable working independently and within a team in a fast-paced technology and business environment with competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to appropriately organise and prioritise work items and collaborate effectively across teams.
  • Can demonstrate critical thinking and analytics skills.

    Role Purpose

The team works across the organisation on specific projects relating to procurement or development of processes and technology to support Enterprise Ireland’s operational and strategic needs while protecting organisational and client data.

    Enterprise Ireland is planning towards a transformative journey that will encompass an overhaul of its target operating model, a redesign of its underlying technical architecture, and a strategic reconfiguration of its software platform landscape to meet its future business objectives. The organisation intends to move from an in-house developed CRM web application to a market leading SaaS based CRM platform which is a viewed a vital component to drive organisational excellence.

    The Senior It Specialist – CRM Platform Data will be a key member of the BPI & IT Department and will play a pivotal role in shaping the future data landscape of the organisation. The successful candidate will work with the Data Management Team, various functional areas within the BPI & IT Department and key stakeholders to define data management policies and oversee CRM data operations, implement data governance practices, take the lead on data integration and migration activities and develop and maintain an extensive set of reporting and analysis assets within the CRM platform. The successful candidate will also work with Enterprise Ireland’s Cyber and Information Security Team to ensure that robust security measures and disaster recovery procedures are in place to protect organisational CRM data both in transit and at rest.

    We are seeking candidates who have an in-depth understanding of, and experience in CRM data management and have a detailed understanding of industry best practice and its implementation. They must be equally adept at thriving within a team dynamic or working independently, and are reliable, enthusiastic, committed, creative and detail focused. This role also requires strong collaboration skills to focus on a diverse range of technical and organisational work in a continuously changing environment.

    Key Deliverables

    CRM Data Governance

    • Work with the Data Management team and other key stakeholders to establish a CRM Data Governance Strategy, implement a suitable framework to understand and classify CRM data and takes actions to address data quality issues.
    • Assign clear ownership of CRM data to individuals or teams, establishing clear responsibility for data stewardship.
    • Identify data contributors and establish controls to ensure accountability for the data they input or manage.
    • Work with the Data Quality Team to monitor data governance practices and identify root causes for non-compliance and take actions to mitigate.
    • Co-ordinate actions to respond to data governance audits to assess the effectiveness of data governance measures and identify areas for improvement.
    • Create and maintain CRM data dictionaries, specifications and other relevant documentation.

    Integration and Data Migration

    • Take the lead from a data management perspective on integrating CRM data with other Enterprise Ireland systems to ensure data consistency, integrity and availability.
    • Establish principles regarding the use of automated processes for data synchronisation, ensuring near real-time data access, where appropriate, across the organisational data landscape.
    • Work with BPI & IT colleagues to determine to correct data integration approach regarding technology, frequency and appropriate data transfer mechanisms.
    • Determine the correct data migration strategy for each situation, evaluating risks regarding business operation disruption.
    • Plan and oversee data migration activities, providing a leading subject matter expert role on cleansing, mapping, cleansing, validating and verification of data during data migration transitions, promoting the use of automated processes to reduce manual effort.

    Reporting and Analytics

    • Provide leadership on the availability of accurate, well-structured CRM data to drive actionable insights, inform strategic decision making and optimise business processes.
    • Work with the Data Management Team to ensure that CRM data is fully available within data warehouse and analysis cubes.
    • Contribute to efforts to create and maintain data derived organisation KPIs, ensuring effective change management to ensure data accuracy, quality and availability.
    • Utilise the capability of the CRM platform to deliver self-service reporting assets and dashboards and enable business power users to perform ad-hoc analysis using supported reporting tools.

    Data Security & Compliance

    • Ensure the security and compliance of CRM data by safeguarding sensitive client company data to maintain the trust of key internal and external stakeholders.
    • Work with Enterprise Ireland’s Cyber & Information Security Team to implement role-based access controls to restrict data access, ensuring users only have to the information necessary to carry out their roles.
    • Maintain and review data encryption measures to protect CRM data at-rest and in transit.
    • Apply appropriate techniques to conceal sensitive information on non-production instances and unauthorised users.
    • Monitor and review elevated privileged user data access.
    • Maintain and review audit trails and facilitate data security audits.
    • Implement and monitor robust data backup procedures and develop a CRM data recovery plan as part of the overall Disaster Recovery Plan
    • Participate in the Vendor Risk Management process to assess the security practice of the CRM platform vendor to ensure they meet security standards and comply with relevant regulations.
    • Liaise with Enterprise Ireland’s Data Protection Officer to ensure compliance with data protection and data privacy regulations and policies.

    Key Skills & Knowledge

    • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science or related field is essential.
    • Proven track record in a CRM data management/governance role on a market leading CRM platform for medium sized organisation or company is essential.
    • In-depth knowledge of the data management capabilities of SaaS-based CRM platforms is essential.
    • An understanding of the principals of ICT Security and what controls should be in place to protect CRM data is essential.
    • Strong knowledge and experience of reporting and analysis of CRM data is essential.
    • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of relational databases, data modelling and ETL tools is essential.
    • Knowledge and experience of implementing/maintaining complex business systems integrations would be an advantage.
    • Certifications in data management on market leading CRM platforms would be an advantage.
    • Working knowledge of web services API technologies is desirable.
    • End user focused, self-motivated individual who is equally comfortable working independently and within a team in a fast-paced technology and business environment with competing priorities.
    • Demonstrated ability to appropriately organise and prioritise work items and collaborate effectively across teams.
